T is for ‘Token’ (of my appreciation): A new and exclusive guided meditation – a gift for you.

Hi There!

To show my appreciation for your continued support, I have created a guided meditation for you (keep reading, it’s at the bottom of the page).

It’s designed to solve the two most common problems my clients ask for help with in their intuitive development.

1: I don’t believe in myself and my abilities enough – how can I overcome this?

2: How do I clearly receive and TRUST accurate and specific information in both psychic work and mediumship?

If you are an intuitive/psychic/medium at any stage of development who suffers from self-doubt and wants to be open to receiving the most accurate and healing information possible then this meditation is for you.

From listening to this meditation, my clients have also reported:

  • Improved Sleep
  • Deeper feelings of well being.
  • Feeling de-stressed.
  • Experiencing greater empathy and forgiveness for others.

I think these wonderful extra benefits are due to the music. My dear friend and maestro of the angels Punit Yaatri channelled a musical composition especially for this meditation. And it’s so special and so beautiful. You can find out more about Punit and how his music has LITERALLY saved lives by clicking on his lovely serene image…

punit, yaatri, angels, healing, music, brain heart music, dementia, alzheimers, autism

This meditation WILL improve your confidence and the accuracy of your readings (and your intuition more generally). You ARE intuitive, you ARE powerful and you ARE worthy…because you ARE SPIRIT. xxx

Need more help? I offer one-to-one coaching for intuitives/psychics and mediums at all stages of development.

All My Love,

O is for Oneness: You are a Unique and Beautiful Expression of All-That-Is.

‘I need to get rid of my ego’, ‘I need to become vegan’, ‘I must always think positively’. Spiritual explorers should stop being so hard on themselves. I see them grinding away at themselves as if, if they grind away hard enough, they might grind themselves into a more spiritual being. Many people who are interested in spirituality seem to reject and dislike the sense of separation that comes from inhabiting an individual human body, and leading an individual human life. Anyone who has done even the lightest of reading into spirituality knows that the take-home message from most branches of spiritual wisdom is ‘we are one’. We are One with each other. One with God. One with the Universe. This is true, but many seem to interpret this information as if we were one, now we’re not because we’re bad and naughty humans, and we have to find some sort of difficult and punishing way to reunite ourselves with source. And this is simply not true.

You are always one with God. You are always connected to source, and you are exactly as you should be. There is no need to punish yourself, battle with your ego, or deprive yourself of human experiences, because to do so is to reject your humanity with fear, which only serves to make you forget that you are always one with love. Your human life is a unique and individual feather on the wing of Spirit, and Spirit cannot fly without you. Nothing can separate you from source. Nothing. Experience your human life as fully as you can. Make mistakes, cry, doubt, make silly decisions, take risks and go your own way, because when you do, the Universe experiences those feelings, learns with you and grows with you through love. You are not bad because you are human. You are not ‘cut off’ because you recognise yourself in the mirror. You are simply a unique expression of oneness, just like everyone else. Embrace it. Do what feels right to your human self as well as your spiritual self, for they are also one. You need not struggle to make your way back to oneness, you are already one with love. Although we may wander through the forest of life, sometimes feeling lost, often feeling alone and afraid, there is nowhere in that forest that the voice of loving oneness cannot reach you. For it is always in your heart.

M is for Mediumship: The Truth About My Work as a Medium.

spirit, link, light, energy, medium, mediumship, love, meditation

I have been serving as a medium for so long now that I feel I constantly live with one foot in physical reality, and one foot in another non-physical world. The title of ‘medium’ doesn’t mean much to me because the presence of a consciousness-based, non-physical reality is as much a part of my everyday life as the physical world we live in. My ability to communicate with non-physical people has influenced the way I live my life so greatly that to me, consideration of the non-physical is utterly natural and normal.

I have never really spoken about the exact process that I go through to connect with a person in Spirit. I have never explicitly offered the truth about how it all works…and that’s because I know whole-heartedly that I do not know the truth. What I know is my truth. I’d like to share my truth with you, and give you an honest and clear account of my experience with Spirit. It will make sense to some of you, and it will be nonsense to some of you, but it is what it is.

In a way, I chose the role of medium, and in a way, I did not. I keep choosing to be a medium in the sense that I keep doing it, but I also cannot fully explain how I got to the position where I can choose it. So I believe, on some level, that the experience of mediumship chose me. Just as any natural ability chooses any host, seemingly before birth.

Developing the ability to communicate with a person who is not in a physical body, is like developing the ability to paint a beautiful work of art whilst wearing a blindfold. Of course, it can be done, but it takes practice, trust, repetition and a subtle awareness beyond physical sight.

There is such an exchange of love that occurs through a strong mediumistic connection that each party involved wants to experience it again and again, like being in the company of someone who makes you feel really great. The love that is exchanged is nourishing to the person in Spirit, the medium and the recipient. The loving energy that travels between us is a Universal language- it is understood and experienced exactly the same for physical and non-physical people because it is the thread that connects us all. This beautiful exchange gives power to itself, propagating itself, thus creating the desire in all parties to repeat the experience. This repetition facilitates improvement in communicative capability for the communicator, the medium and the recipient, as each becomes more familiar with their role.

The more I choose to have love in my life- the more love I deliberately give, share, and receive- the better a medium I become. Practising love in my own life improves my understanding of the love shared between others: both physical and non-physical people. For me, appreciation of love is the fuel of the mediumistic connection. Love is the electricity that makes the communication possible.

I love every day, I give thanks every day and I make the presence of the spirit world a conscious and deliberate part of my life every day. When I get up on the platform, I have no idea who is going to come forward from Spirit, or what I’m going to say. That may seem terrifying, but I have spent all day, all week, all of my life, developing the trust that someone will be there. The moment on the platform is not the moment to lose that trust, it’s not fair on the people in Spirit who have shared themselves with me and therefore given me something to trust in the first place. I stand to speak – always nervous – I will often introduce myself, warming to the audience’s energy and getting a sense of their collective mind. As the energy builds and I adjust to their wavelength – and they to mine – I begin to get a sense of someone standing with me – a non-physical person- who arrives in a manner similar to ‘the sense of being stared at’, like an awareness of someone present behind me. Sometimes it’s a sudden feeling, sometimes it occurs to me slowly over seconds or even minutes. It’s at this time that I know that the collective beacon of energy that the audience and I are sending out has been successful in drawing people from Spirit towards us, and that people in the non-physical world have been able to use our collective energy (from our presence, our bodies, our prayers, laughter and singing) to take on a strength of form that can impress upon my consciousness. This ‘impression’ is a whole-istic experience for me. I often get a sense of the person standing at my shoulder: their age, height, build and gender. I may feel a sensation on my body indicative of how they died. They may place an object into my hand or instill a particular emotion into my heart. I may see a scene in my imagination relevant to them, or to you, the recipient. I don’t know for sure, but I believe from years of experience, that the blend of my energy with the energy of the person in Spirit creates differing mediumistic expressions, by its uniqueness. I believe that this energy is electromagnetic, active on levels quantum and smaller, and that this energy is inter-dimensional, although I do not have the ability to prove this – I don’t think any of us do, just yet. I believe in the scientific method and open-minded experimental endeavour and I believe that it will eventually provide us with the answers.

As your loved one comes closer to me, your acknowledgement and love continues to fuel the experience. Your loved one will search through the filing cabinets of my consciousness, looking for information, searching for things to point out, names that I know, places that I have been, experiences that I have had, in order to help me put their essence across in the truest way possible, and I try my best to interpret (or not), explain (or not) and understand (or not) as they direct me. Sometimes I totally get what they are trying to say, and sometimes I don’t- just as is true with a communication with any physical person.

When the communication is drawing to a close, I feel the person’s energy begin to wane, like losing a mobile phone signal or becoming distracted.

And that’s it. When the session of communication is over, I thank you, I thank your loved ones who reside in the Spiritual world and I go home. To me, mediumship is both the most magical experience, and the most mundane. Both extraordinary, and incredibly ordinary. Both interesting through a spiritual lens, and a scientific one, where love takes on the form of energy, and energy, the form of love.

****

Do you wonder if people in Spirit can see you in the loo? Do you wonder if you have to pick who to spend eternity with when you die? Do you wonder what happens to skeptics/religious people when they die? Do you have a burning question about mediumship that you simply must ask? Ask your mediumship-related questions in a comment and I will do my humble and limited best to answer them…

H is for ‘Happiness’. Is there a secret to being happy?

Is there a secret to being happy? I used to think that happiness was a property possessed by people, places, things, habits and distractions. I used to think that to be happy, I had to have all of those things in my life. Imagine my shock and surprise when, the more I tried to cram ‘happiness things’ into my life, the less happy I felt.

Now that I am a little older and wiser, I have learned that happiness isn’t a property of anything outside of myself. Happiness is a property of me- if I choose it to be so. And happiness is a property of you- if you choose it to be so.

Happiness is a lens that you click over the camera of your consciousness. It is a way in which you choose to see the world. Happiness is a repetitive choice- if you wanna be happy, you gotta keep choosing to be happy, and here’s something that was a real revelation to me:

You can be happy, and still give yourself permission to feel other emotions. Happiness is NOT the repression of other feelings: it is the loving acceptance of all your feelings (and your beautiful self, more generally!)

The thoughts you choose to think influence the way you understand the world: fact. If you wake up in the morning and immediately think, ‘I’m tired.’; ‘I’m miserable.’; ‘ I’m stressed.’;  ‘I have too much to do today.’; ‘I don’t want to go to this meeting.’; ‘I don’t like my job.
‘I’m dreading getting stuck in traffic.’; ‘ I’m always running late.’; ‘I look bloated today.’, etc. etc., then you are creating your world within a framework of negativity. A good technique to encourage happiness into your life is to bring positivity into your morning routine. Consider ‘deliberate positive thinking’ as important to your daily routine as brushing your teeth! Deliberately think about something positive right now. ‘Today is going to be a great day!’; ‘I look beautiful today.’; ‘I am a walking success!’; there’s a few to get you started! My personal favourite right now is simply:

I deserve happiness.

Go ahead and try that one on for size. Thinking positive is like going to the gym- it might take some time for you to get into the habit of it, but keep practicing.  Every time you choose to think positively, it’s a win for ‘happiness’. Think of it as those one or two extra reps at the gym – they are a worthwhile effort.

So what about when you don’t feel happy? Well here’s a thought: Worry, for example, is a state of mind that can only be achieved when thinking about the past or the future (as is fear, disappointment or anger). We worry about what has been, how we’ve been treated, how we’ve reacted.  We worry about past events, people in our past and past decisions we have made.

Or we worry about the future.  We worry about the rest of the day, the rest of the week, month, year- we worry about the rest of our lives that haven’t happened yet!

If you are worrying- or experiencing any fear-based emotion- then you are either living in the past that cannot be changed, no matter how much you worry about it, or, living in the future, and worrying about something that has not happened yet, and may never happen!  Fortunately, there is a place where worry does not exist.  You’re in it right now.  Right here, right now, in this present moment.

Close your eyes and take a deep breath, feel your whole body relax: everything is at peace.

When you catch yourself worrying or getting stessed out, bring your mind back to the present moment.  Take a few deep and natural breaths, and focus on your body, your breathing, your heartbeat. In the here and now, there is nothing to worry about. When you begin to worry, focus your mind on something beautiful in the present moment; look out the window at nature, think about something that makes you laugh, think about someone that you love. Happiness and contentment come very easily when we give ourselves permission to exist in the present moment.

What does your inner critic say about you? In order to be happy, you must have a good relationship with your inner ‘self’, perhaps you call that ‘self’ your ego. Be aware of what you think about yourself.  When you criticize yourself, you bring your energy way out of alignment with happiness.  If you think negative things about yourself, then you are thinking in a way that suggests that you don’t feel you deserve happiness.  Don’t be an enemy to yourself, instead, be your own best friend.  Think, speak, and act towards yourself, the way that you would act towards someone you love very much. Look in the mirror. The person looking back is a person with feelings, who is vulnerable, who will flourish like a flower when watered by love. You must count yourself amongst the people in your life that you love.  Speak to yourself in the way that you would speak to your best friend. You wouldn’t criticize them, speak badly of them and be unsupportive of them, would you?  Of course not! So why do those things to yourself?

Every day, look in the mirror and say, ‘I love you.’ And really mean it.

Choose to focus on your good qualities and the things you like about yourself. Think about those instead of criticizing yourself. If you catch yourself thinking something critical about you, then you have to think three positive and genuine things that you love about yourself to balance up the scales of happiness (hey, I don’t make the rules!). To make the most of the happiness that the world has to offer you, you must also think happy about yourself.

It is scientifically proven that being kind to others, receiving kindness from others, and even watching people be kind to each other, is good for your health! To be happy, you must be kind. Perform an act of kindness every day. It need not be a massive gesture, kindness comes in many forms, and as little effort as it takes to smile at someone in the street can help them remember their own inner happiness. Take a moment to reflect on the kindnesses that you have performed, because, guess what?, even thinking about being kind is good for you! As you consciously make kindness a part of your life, happiness will follow. Kindness and happiness are siblings who do everything together.

A great way to make room in your heart for happiness is to practise forgiveness. Believe it or not, making mistakes in life is allowed! It may also surprise you to know that when you make a mistake, you are not obliged to replay it over and over in your mind and hang on to it for the rest of your life!

Forgive yourself. Don’t beat yourself up about things. It wastes your energy and does not help you to feel better. Unforgiveness actually prevents you from experiencing happiness! For more on this, see my post on forgiveness. Forgiving yourself allows you to move forward into a place of increased happiness as you let go of some emotional baggage.

If you feel yourself getting stressed, worked up, unhappy or angry about something in your life, that is ok.  Accept the emotion, forgive the emotion, and just breathe!  There are many mental, emotional and physical benefits achieved just from taking a nice, deep breath.  Breathing helps you to become calm, it allows more oxygen to your brain and brings you back into the present moment.  For a quick fix of happiness, no matter what is going on around you, just take a nice, deep breath, in through your nose, expanding your ribcage and your tummy as you do, and out through your mouth, visualizing all your stresses being expelled by your breath.  Repeat a few times, and feel calmness and happiness return.

The best way to bring happiness into your life is to be grateful for what you have that already makes you happy! When you get snuggled into your pyjamas and get warm under the duvet, take a few minutes to list the things in your life that you are grateful for. For more on this, see my post about gratitude. What are you grateful for today?

Until next week: Do one thing every day that makes you happy. Do it with gusto. Savour it. Enjoy it. Appreciate it.

Next Week: H is for Healing.

F is for ‘Fate’. What is Fate? (A Twist of Fate.)

What is fate, exactly? What does it mean to experience a twist of fate? Do you believe that you have a fate, a path of destiny that is pre-determined and laid out before you?

…and the big question is….

If fate exists, does that mean that you don’t have free will?

These are not easy questions to answer. Although ‘fate’ is a term that is commonly used in spiritual discourse, it is also a very serious problem for philosophy, psychology and physics:

In philosophy, fate is know as determinism.

In psychology, your fate is choices that you will make based on your social circumstances, which include: the influence of your parents, your religion, social status and education. This is known as your ‘life script’.

In quantum physics, the fate of any particle is inextricably linked to the fate of another particle. This is known as ‘entanglement’. Fate behaves very strangely on the quantum level.(Think Schrodinger’s Cat)

In this post, I will be discussing if fate exists in a way that affects the lives of you and me, and if so, how does it work?

The main problem with fate is that there is definite evidence to suggest that we live in a pre-determined reality (see above, and also just lots of reports of weird synchronistic happenings generally!) yet as we live out or lives, we have the definite distinct impression that we are making choices freely and without any bossy, imaginary force telling us what to do. We seem to exhibit free will: coffee or herbal tea? get up at 7am, or 8am? To move house or not to move house? Call an old friend, or no? Your choices are being made by you, and so your life is shaped by these choices, and these choices alone, right?…Well, maybe.

I cannot offer you a hard and fast scientific formula for the existence of fate, however I have had several interesting experiences that have led me to believe that there are things that I am ‘supposed’ to do whilst alive on this planet, and I call that fate. I often get the sense that I am being led past certain milestones or markers in my life that are not only pre-determined, but are pre-determined towards some purpose. The ‘markers’ are always significant and life changing, they appear to be deliberate and often turn out to be essential to my soul’s development. I get the sense that the frequent synchronicities that I experience serve a function- they conspire with the forces of fate to lead me (by some cosmic invisible soul-map) to people, places, thoughts, actions and lessons that I cannot choose to miss or forget.

I’m sure this all sounds very far-fetched and unscientific, and it is really hard to explain rationally, yet if you have ever experienced a twist of fate or synchronistic intervention, then you’ll know what I mean! It is difficult to shake the feeling that you are being deliberately directed through life, once you have experienced this kind of phenomena. As empirical evidence, I’d like to share with you one of the many synchronistic events that has happened in my life, that has given me the sense that fate is watching over me…very closely.

When I was 23, my mother gave me a book called ‘Looking Back’ by James Arthur Findlay. She told me that J. Arthur Findlay was a man who had very interesting experiences with mediumship and Spirit communication, and had dedicated his life to the study of psychic and mediumistic phenomena. Right away this piqued my interest, being exactly the subject matter I enjoyed reading about. Arthur Findlay was so dedicated to the study and development of psychic and mediumistic abilities that, when he passed away, he left his stately home in Stansted, England, to be converted into a school for psychic studies. This school is now called The Arthur Findlay College for Psychic Studies.

At 23, I was already working as a psychic medium. I found the idea of the college really appealing- I wanted to go to learn from the best psychic and mediumistic teachers, and to build a strong mediumistic relationship with people in Spirit. I asked my mum if we could go, and I chose a week-long course that happened to co-incide with my birthday. My mum (the kind and generous woman that she is!) offered to pay for my visit and tuition at the college as a birthday gift. When our stay at the college was confirmed, I thought I had better learn something about the man whose former home I was going to be living and learning in. So I settled down one day, with the huge tome ‘Looking Back’ that my mum had given me, and I began to read. The book was about Arthur Findlay’s life and was very interesting…I was surprised to read that he hadn’t come from a Spiritual background at all! A third into the book, I turned a page and there was a black and white photo of a church. I stared at it for a long moment…the church seemed so familiar to me. I felt like I knew that church very well. I was so confused. I turned the page and read on, and I couldn’t believe what I read…

I grew up in a small town in Scotland called Beith, which has a population of 6,300 people. I lived there and went to school there my entire childhood. Imagine my shock and surprise when I read, in a caption below the photo of the church, that Arthur Findlay had also lived in Beith for much of his adult life, before moving 400 miles away to Stansted, England. It’s no wonder that the church in the photo looked so familiar…I had walked past that church every day of my childhood! The co-incidence was uncanny. So uncanny that I recognized the experience as not being co-incidence. It was fate. I went to Arthur Findlay College, and on the walls were some of Arthur Findlay’s letters, addressed to and from addresses in Beith. It was surreal. My time at the Arthur Findlay College was amazing. I learned so much that has shaped my understanding of mediumship. I learned so much that I have applied in developing my connection to the Spirit world, and the experiences I had there crystallized the feeling that I’d had for a number of years, that I was supposed to be a medium- that it was my fate. I passed that fate marker, just by being open enough to allow, and follow, the synchonicities that led me to the college. I have come to accept and trust that the same lanterns of fate continue to illuminate my journey through life.

It is because of experiences like this that I do believe that each and every one of us has a fate. But I also believe that we have free will too. So here’s the theory…

Ok, so we live in a deterministic reality. There are pre-determined experiences that you must go through, so that your soul may flourish and extend itself in the most meaningful way possible. Despite this pre-chosen destiny, you still have free will in the following ways:

1. You do not consciously know the fate markers that you have chosen to pass in your life, so you are making free will choices simply because you are unaware at the time of making the choice, that the choice is leading you to your fate.

2. You do not know how/by which path/ in which way you are going to get there. So your destination (your destiny) is pre-determined, but you have many, many free choices to make as to how you’re gonna get there. I call this blend of fate and free will ‘The Matrix of Fate’. Here are some of my possible ‘fates’ and how I may come to experience them, using my own free will.

Fate, free will, determinism, destiny

The colourful dots are some experiences that the force of fate has guided me towards. All roads lead to them or through them, so my experiencing them is inevitable. I make free choices as to how I achieve these fate markers, but achieve them I must- many of my choices lead me round in circles!

Unitl next week: Meditate on the ways in which fear and doubt are so unnecessary because you are safe in the knowledge that you cannot make a mistake about your fate. You can choose the long road to get to the milestone: but you cannot miss the milestone. Allow that knowledge to comfort you and know that you don’t have to try so hard to make your fate happen. Relax: It’s coming! It must.

I’m excited to read your experiences with fate. Do you believe in fate or do you think you make your own destiny? Comments, thoughts and questions are welcomed. If you enjoyed reading this post, please do share it! Thank you!
