T is for ‘Token’ (of my appreciation): A new and exclusive guided meditation – a gift for you.

Hi There!

To show my appreciation for your continued support, I have created a guided meditation for you (keep reading, it’s at the bottom of the page).

It’s designed to solve the two most common problems my clients ask for help with in their intuitive development.

1: I don’t believe in myself and my abilities enough – how can I overcome this?

2: How do I clearly receive and TRUST accurate and specific information in both psychic work and mediumship?

If you are an intuitive/psychic/medium at any stage of development who suffers from self-doubt and wants to be open to receiving the most accurate and healing information possible then this meditation is for you.

From listening to this meditation, my clients have also reported:

  • Improved Sleep
  • Deeper feelings of well being.
  • Feeling de-stressed.
  • Experiencing greater empathy and forgiveness for others.

I think these wonderful extra benefits are due to the music. My dear friend and maestro of the angels Punit Yaatri channelled a musical composition especially for this meditation. And it’s so special and so beautiful. You can find out more about Punit and how his music has LITERALLY saved lives by clicking on his lovely serene image…

punit, yaatri, angels, healing, music, brain heart music, dementia, alzheimers, autism

This meditation WILL improve your confidence and the accuracy of your readings (and your intuition more generally). You ARE intuitive, you ARE powerful and you ARE worthy…because you ARE SPIRIT. xxx

Need more help? I offer one-to-one coaching for intuitives/psychics and mediums at all stages of development.

All My Love,

S is for ‘Sabbatical’ (I’m back from a long one!)

Hello!

You have received crickets from me for about a year. Sorry about that. I’ve been finishing up my time at University (just one semester and finals to go!) and when that’s done, I’ll be back to blogging in a big way.

In the meantime, I hope you’ll be pleased, informed and entertained by a series of videos I’ve created called Withintuition. As I’m sure you can guess, these videos will help you hone, sharpen and enliven your psychic, intuitive and mediumistic abilities. The course is free and I’ll be posting the videos right here on From Angels to Zen, so they should be softly landing in your inbox on the regular.

I hope you enjoy them!

In this video, I talk about the importance of meditation in developing your intuitive abilities – seriously, if you want to get psychic, get meditating. It helps. A lot.

All My Love,

Lauren x

S is for ‘Synchronicity’: The Weird Feeling That It’s Just Meant To Be.

S is for ‘Synchronicity’ audio transmission (From Angels to Zen).

There are so many great words that begin with S: Spirit. Saviour. Sexy. Sensual. Steady. Sincere. Simple. Sublime. I settled on ‘synchronicity’ because it incorporates all of those things.

For my twenty-fourth birthday, my mother offered to take me to the Arthur Findlay College of Psychic Studies. At this point, I was ten years into my deliberate intuitive development. I had trusted Spirit, been guided by my feelings, studied books and listened to feedback but I hadn’t received much in the way of ‘official’ tuition. I had heard of the Arthur Findlay College and I was aware of its reputation as the best school in the world for developing psychics and mediums.

I was desperate to go.

Arthur Findlay, psychic, medium, mediumship

Arthur Findlay College a.k.a Stansted Hall circa. 2009.

I picked a week-long course and my mother gave me a book to read: Looking Back by James Arthur Findlay.

It was a huge tome, about the life and times of the man who had left his stately home in Stansted, England to the advancement of psychical research. After his passing in 1964, his home became the Arthur Findlay College. I settled down on my sofa bed in my one bedroom flat, to spend some time getting to know Mr. Findlay before visiting Stansted Hall. I had been engrossed in his story of religion, scepticism, evidence, mediumship and belief, for several hours. My hungry reading was brought to a standstill, however, by a page that featured a letter sent to Mr. Findlay. I stared at it for a long moment, immobilized, enveloped, filled up, by the pure soft fabric of synchronicity…

page, book, arthur findlay, glasses, focus

It reads ‘J. Arthur Findlay, Woodside House, Beith’.

The letter was addressed to Mr Findlay at Woodside House, Beith. Beith is a tiny town in the west of Scotland. Beith is 310 miles away from Stansted Hall in England. Beith is my home – it’s where I grew up. Beith is where I went to school. As a child, I played in the grounds of Woodside House, where Mr Findlay once lived.

I got synchro-chills all over. I experienced a strong awareness that Mr Findlay’s life and mine were inextricably linked – that he, I, this book and this town were somehow in it together and that, without knowing, we were very, very important to each other. I felt a deeply comforting sense that something very personal and Universal, important and natural, grand and yet careful was going on. For a moment I felt that his spirit was my spirit was all our spirits. I could picture him smiling; guiding me on the path that was uncannily like his own, having a good laugh at my bewilderment at the connection – the discovery – I’d just made.

That feeling is wonderful. That feeling of being guided. Being expansive. Being on purpose. That feeling of ‘I’m meant to be’, that feeling that perhaps what life has in store for me without my interference, is better than what I’m capable of choosing for myself. That feeling of ‘thank you’ I see you. The feeling that the Universe has invested deeply and fully in me. That feeling of, ‘ok, that was weird’. The thrill of feeling so lovingly connected over space and time. The comfort of knowing there is a flow, and the relief at receiving permission to stop struggling and just get in it. To me, synchronicity is that permission. It’s the Universe saying ‘we’ve got this, let go.’

I can honestly say that every significant, wonderful, fulfilling thing that’s ever happened in my life has come to be through odds-defying synchronicity. Not planning, not trying, not worrying, not aiming. Just being, recognizing and appreciating.

Try it. Stop. Breathe. Let go. You are already being guided.

I’d love to know your thoughts on the subject of synchronicity. Have you ever experienced a strange ‘coincidence’ that changed the course of your life? Have you felt the synchro-chills? Why do we have synchronicity? What’s your theory? Deposit your wisdom here…

This post is dedicated to James Arthur Findlay who returned to the Spirit world on 24th July 1964, and whose life and work has inspired me so much.

Next week on From Angels To Zen, I interview Robin and Sandra Foy, two quarters of The Scole Experiment who, in the 1990s, achieved some of the best evidence for life after death ever recorded. Twenty years on, we talk physical mediumship, interdimensional communication, the philosophy of energy and effective techniques for experimenting with Spirit. I hope you’ll join us, this is not to be missed!

O is for Organic: 5 Unusual Ways to Live a More Organic Life.

organic, green, fresh, vegetables, fairtrade, food

To live an organic life is to consciously minimize the amount of harmful chemicals that are in and on your body, around your home, and in your day-to-day life. Living an organic life initially takes a bit of effort because chemically fuelled products are cheaper and faster to make and they yield more profit. The six biggest corporations that control what you see in the supermarkets don’t want you to eat organic so organic choices are hidden from view, and go unpromoted.

If you’ve found yourself thinking, ‘I really want to eat organic’ or ‘I want to be an ethical consumer’ but you don’t know where to start, these 5 Unusual Ways to Live a More Organic Life should set you on your way.

How do you bring organic produce into your life? Know a great website that sells organic stuff? Got an amazing D.I.Y organic life hack? Care to share your favourite organic recipe? Please share your thoughts in a comment!

1. Educate yourself.

As I said, the big corporations don’t want you to have information about chem-free alternatives. There is no profit in it for them. The internet, however, is a wonderful thing, and these days, you can do lots of research and digging (‘scuse the pun) about eating organic. When you educate yourself, and use your own knowledge and wisdom, you are better equipped to make the right choices for yourself and your family. I recommend the following websites that will give you a great foundation about why you should live organically, and how you can get started:

http://www.soilassociation.org/whatisorganic

http://www.organicconsumers.org/

2. Expect the unexpected when it comes to organic produce.

In the last six months I have purchased:

Organic rubber gloves

Organic make up remover pads

Organic candles

Organic fabric.

It’s not just meat and veg that is better when it’s organic. Many unexpected products contain ingredients that grow in the ground, and if it grows in the ground then it can be organic! What’s the most unexpected organic product you’ve ever seen?

3. Grow your own: even if you live in an apartment!

There are lots of nutritious and delicious foods that you can grow right from your own windowsill! Garlic, tomatoes, mushrooms, potatoes, leafy greens and many types of beans grow wonderfully indoors. Growing your own is cheap, satisfying and healthy – you become a producer instead of a consumer, and you know where your food has come from. Growing veg indoors is a great way to get kids interested in eating organically. I remember my grandpa’s spare room being overrun with juicy, plump tomatoes when I was a kid- it’s one of my most magical memories! Visit The Real Farmacy to get started growing your own veg – even in an apartment!

Coaxing a child to eat veg can be a tough job – especially with so many brands offering crap to your kids via catchy adverts and shiny wrappers. One good way to encourage a child to eat veg is to include him or her in the growing and cooking process. Let your child help you make dinner, make it a family affair filled with love, and your child will be happy to eat what you made together and will associate eating veg with happiness and love.

4. Aim to talk to the person who produced your food.

Of course, if you live in an apartment you won’t be able to grow all your own food. The closer you can get to the person who does grow your food, the better. Farmer’s markets and food co-ops are great places to meet the person who has the very important task of feeding you and your family. What are their methods? Do they farm/produce organically? Ask them questions until you are satisfied with the answers. Part of the consumer problem is that we often don’t know – or care – where our food has come from. Us consumers are so far removed from production that all sorts of bad things can go on behind the scenes of production without anyone questioning it. And we unconsciously endorse it by paying for it.

Joining a food co-op is a great way to meet like-minded consumers and the farmers who will produce your food. The principle behind it is to know where your food has come from and to shop with a conscious, co-operative attitude. Are you an organized perfectionist with a bit of time on your hands? Why not start your own food co-op? University of Glasgow has a great food co-op, run by friendly and helpful folks.

5. Vote with your money.

The best way that you can live a more organic life is simply to vote with your money. Whatever you buy, you endorse. When you consume an item, you validate its production. The power is in your pennies! Some people complain that buying organic is expensive. That may be the case compared to ‘beef burgers’ that cost 2p each, but isn’t your heath and the health of this planet the most worthwhile thing to spend your money on? Everything has a cost, and someone must pay somewhere along the line. You pay a little extra for a much better and healthful product. Eating organically is still a fringe lifestyle choice. As it becomes mainstream, the price of organic produce will come down as the volume of it goes up. The volume goes up by consumer demand – so the more you buy, the more the price comes down. You do not have to become a be-dreadlocked vegan who lives in a hut with solar panels and only eats roots (although that would be ideal!), just by making small changes to your buying habits and taking some pride and care in what you eat, you can make a big difference to your own health, the health of our economy and the health of the planet.

O is for Oneness: You are a Unique and Beautiful Expression of All-That-Is.

‘I need to get rid of my ego’, ‘I need to become vegan’, ‘I must always think positively’. Spiritual explorers should stop being so hard on themselves. I see them grinding away at themselves as if, if they grind away hard enough, they might grind themselves into a more spiritual being. Many people who are interested in spirituality seem to reject and dislike the sense of separation that comes from inhabiting an individual human body, and leading an individual human life. Anyone who has done even the lightest of reading into spirituality knows that the take-home message from most branches of spiritual wisdom is ‘we are one’. We are One with each other. One with God. One with the Universe. This is true, but many seem to interpret this information as if we were one, now we’re not because we’re bad and naughty humans, and we have to find some sort of difficult and punishing way to reunite ourselves with source. And this is simply not true.

You are always one with God. You are always connected to source, and you are exactly as you should be. There is no need to punish yourself, battle with your ego, or deprive yourself of human experiences, because to do so is to reject your humanity with fear, which only serves to make you forget that you are always one with love. Your human life is a unique and individual feather on the wing of Spirit, and Spirit cannot fly without you. Nothing can separate you from source. Nothing. Experience your human life as fully as you can. Make mistakes, cry, doubt, make silly decisions, take risks and go your own way, because when you do, the Universe experiences those feelings, learns with you and grows with you through love. You are not bad because you are human. You are not ‘cut off’ because you recognise yourself in the mirror. You are simply a unique expression of oneness, just like everyone else. Embrace it. Do what feels right to your human self as well as your spiritual self, for they are also one. You need not struggle to make your way back to oneness, you are already one with love. Although we may wander through the forest of life, sometimes feeling lost, often feeling alone and afraid, there is nowhere in that forest that the voice of loving oneness cannot reach you. For it is always in your heart.

M is for Mediumship: The Truth About My Work as a Medium.

spirit, link, light, energy, medium, mediumship, love, meditation

I have been serving as a medium for so long now that I feel I constantly live with one foot in physical reality, and one foot in another non-physical world. The title of ‘medium’ doesn’t mean much to me because the presence of a consciousness-based, non-physical reality is as much a part of my everyday life as the physical world we live in. My ability to communicate with non-physical people has influenced the way I live my life so greatly that to me, consideration of the non-physical is utterly natural and normal.

I have never really spoken about the exact process that I go through to connect with a person in Spirit. I have never explicitly offered the truth about how it all works…and that’s because I know whole-heartedly that I do not know the truth. What I know is my truth. I’d like to share my truth with you, and give you an honest and clear account of my experience with Spirit. It will make sense to some of you, and it will be nonsense to some of you, but it is what it is.

In a way, I chose the role of medium, and in a way, I did not. I keep choosing to be a medium in the sense that I keep doing it, but I also cannot fully explain how I got to the position where I can choose it. So I believe, on some level, that the experience of mediumship chose me. Just as any natural ability chooses any host, seemingly before birth.

Developing the ability to communicate with a person who is not in a physical body, is like developing the ability to paint a beautiful work of art whilst wearing a blindfold. Of course, it can be done, but it takes practice, trust, repetition and a subtle awareness beyond physical sight.

There is such an exchange of love that occurs through a strong mediumistic connection that each party involved wants to experience it again and again, like being in the company of someone who makes you feel really great. The love that is exchanged is nourishing to the person in Spirit, the medium and the recipient. The loving energy that travels between us is a Universal language- it is understood and experienced exactly the same for physical and non-physical people because it is the thread that connects us all. This beautiful exchange gives power to itself, propagating itself, thus creating the desire in all parties to repeat the experience. This repetition facilitates improvement in communicative capability for the communicator, the medium and the recipient, as each becomes more familiar with their role.

The more I choose to have love in my life- the more love I deliberately give, share, and receive- the better a medium I become. Practising love in my own life improves my understanding of the love shared between others: both physical and non-physical people. For me, appreciation of love is the fuel of the mediumistic connection. Love is the electricity that makes the communication possible.

I love every day, I give thanks every day and I make the presence of the spirit world a conscious and deliberate part of my life every day. When I get up on the platform, I have no idea who is going to come forward from Spirit, or what I’m going to say. That may seem terrifying, but I have spent all day, all week, all of my life, developing the trust that someone will be there. The moment on the platform is not the moment to lose that trust, it’s not fair on the people in Spirit who have shared themselves with me and therefore given me something to trust in the first place. I stand to speak – always nervous – I will often introduce myself, warming to the audience’s energy and getting a sense of their collective mind. As the energy builds and I adjust to their wavelength – and they to mine – I begin to get a sense of someone standing with me – a non-physical person- who arrives in a manner similar to ‘the sense of being stared at’, like an awareness of someone present behind me. Sometimes it’s a sudden feeling, sometimes it occurs to me slowly over seconds or even minutes. It’s at this time that I know that the collective beacon of energy that the audience and I are sending out has been successful in drawing people from Spirit towards us, and that people in the non-physical world have been able to use our collective energy (from our presence, our bodies, our prayers, laughter and singing) to take on a strength of form that can impress upon my consciousness. This ‘impression’ is a whole-istic experience for me. I often get a sense of the person standing at my shoulder: their age, height, build and gender. I may feel a sensation on my body indicative of how they died. They may place an object into my hand or instill a particular emotion into my heart. I may see a scene in my imagination relevant to them, or to you, the recipient. I don’t know for sure, but I believe from years of experience, that the blend of my energy with the energy of the person in Spirit creates differing mediumistic expressions, by its uniqueness. I believe that this energy is electromagnetic, active on levels quantum and smaller, and that this energy is inter-dimensional, although I do not have the ability to prove this – I don’t think any of us do, just yet. I believe in the scientific method and open-minded experimental endeavour and I believe that it will eventually provide us with the answers.

As your loved one comes closer to me, your acknowledgement and love continues to fuel the experience. Your loved one will search through the filing cabinets of my consciousness, looking for information, searching for things to point out, names that I know, places that I have been, experiences that I have had, in order to help me put their essence across in the truest way possible, and I try my best to interpret (or not), explain (or not) and understand (or not) as they direct me. Sometimes I totally get what they are trying to say, and sometimes I don’t- just as is true with a communication with any physical person.

When the communication is drawing to a close, I feel the person’s energy begin to wane, like losing a mobile phone signal or becoming distracted.

And that’s it. When the session of communication is over, I thank you, I thank your loved ones who reside in the Spiritual world and I go home. To me, mediumship is both the most magical experience, and the most mundane. Both extraordinary, and incredibly ordinary. Both interesting through a spiritual lens, and a scientific one, where love takes on the form of energy, and energy, the form of love.

****

Do you wonder if people in Spirit can see you in the loo? Do you wonder if you have to pick who to spend eternity with when you die? Do you wonder what happens to skeptics/religious people when they die? Do you have a burning question about mediumship that you simply must ask? Ask your mediumship-related questions in a comment and I will do my humble and limited best to answer them…

L is for ‘Light’: (Can a slim and healthy body make you more psychic?)

When Doreen Virtue told me that becoming vegan was the key to being more intuitive, more psychic and a better medium, I didn’t believe her. I couldn’t see the connection between my food choices and my ability to connect with people on a spiritual level. Recently, however, I have been studying the roles of energy, waves and vibration (the electro-magnetic spectrum) in spiritual work and I have developed a theory that working towards a slim and healthy body may make you more psychic. I do not think that it is our eating habits alone that determine how psychic we are (to improve your intuitive abilities requires love, empathy, belief, practice, meditation and study, amongst other things) but I do think that your food choices impact your ‘connectedness’ to your higher-self, to other people, and to non-corporeal beings. Sounds wacky, I know, but hear me out…

The phrase ‘love and light’ crops up in many arenas of spirituality, but what does it actually mean? The love part is pretty obvious, but ‘light’ is a word with many meanings, some of them literal and some of them figurative. We have adopted the word ‘light’ into spiritual discourse, and this adoption gives us clues that there is a relationship between the physics of light; describing something as light in terms of weight; and the idea of working with ‘the light’ in spiritual endeavours. It is this connection between meanings that my theory is based on.

In terms of physics, the definition of light is: Electromagnetic radiation that has a wavelength in the range from about 4,000 (violet) to about 7,700 (red) angstroms and may be perceived by the normal unaided human eye.

So in this literal sense, different colour lights appear so because they have different wavelengths. Like so:

wavelengths, electrmagnetic, spectrum, light, colour

In spiritual work, we often refer to angels, spirit people and other non-physical beings as ‘beings of light’ suggesting that they exist somewhere on the electromagnetic spectrum. When, in spiritual discourse, we refer to something as ‘high vibration’, we are also using an electromagnetic spectrum analogy, implying both that the thing is spiritual and good, and that it expressed as a wave. We have borrowed the word ‘vibration’ from sound- which, like light, is expressed as waves and frequencies, further down the electromagnetic spectrum, like so:

sound waves

Physical matter – which you and I are made of – can also be expressed as frequencies and vibrations. The heavier we are physically, the lower the frequency we emit. The lower the frequency we emit, the further away we move from the ‘high vibration’ and ‘beings of light’ that we communicate with, whose frequencies are much higher than ours because they are not made of physical matter.

The less you weigh, the higher your frequency. When you eat to be slim and healthy, you literally raise the frequency of your body, thereby moving your ‘vibration’ closer to the frequency of ‘beings of light’ simply because you are carrying less matter.

Fruits and vegetables, apart from containing lots of nutrients, have higher frequencies than meat because their mass is less than meat so eating fruits and vegetables helps you to sustain a ‘high vibration’. When you consume them, they don’t weigh your vibration down as much as meat, carbohydrate or dairy. Therefore:

junk food, equation, frequency

You plus junk food equals low frequency.

frequency, spirituality, food, nutrition

You plus salad equals high frequency!

Our portion sizes also have a frequency. We usually eat junk food in portion sizes that have a greater mass, and therefore, lower frequency than the portions of fruit and vegetables that we normally eat. So it makes sense that eating whatever will raise your frequency, in portion sizes that raise your vibration, will move you closer to the frequency of ‘high vibration beings’ and ‘beings of light’.

What do you think? Am I crazy mental or is there something to this? Have you noticed a correlation between weight-loss/ weight-gain, your eating habits, and your intuitive abilities?

L is for ‘Love’: (Seven effects of love that ought to come with a warning label!)

pills, red, bottle, love, passion

When you experience love, it is like taking medicine for the first time. As you adjust to the changing presence of love in your heart, you may experience some ‘side effects’- just as you feel the effects when you introduce a new substance to your body. The effects of love are manifold, and some of love’s ‘side effects’ are unexpected and may be a big change from your usual feelings. If love could be bottled – like medicine – and consumed to be experienced, then the bottle should come with these ‘warning labels’ of love’s unexpected side effects:

!WARNING!: When you truly experience love, you may feel like being alone.

When you think of love, you think of sharing love with your partner, family and friends, right? But experiencing love may have the opposite effect on you. Love might cause you to lock your door, unplug your phone, switch off the internet and be non-contactable, even by smoke-signal, if you are adjusting to loving yourself. It is hard to love yourself if you feel that you must constantly be giving yourself to others. To be alone is to look within, to be at peace, and to promote self-knowledge. To be alone is to accept your own company as good company: there is love in that acceptance.

!WARNING! Living with love may make you more aggressive.

Do you think of love as something floaty and passive and saintly? What if I told you that when you choose to experience love, you may start to give a shit about things you’ve never cared about before? When you experience love, the first thing to be cured is apathy. The second thing, is the sense that we are all separate from each other. Don’t be surprised when you welcome love into your heart, you begin to think ‘what can I do to help?’, ‘how can I change this?’, ‘how can I make a difference?’- love feeds your inner eco-warrior, your inner samaritan and your inner Robin Hood.

!WARNING! When you experience love, you may notice spontaneous physical changes in your body.

Do you love doughnuts? Do you love booze? Do you love junk food? When you ramp up the dosage of love in your life, you may not love those things so much. A weird side effect of love is that you may start loving life, your health and yourself too much to still love eating that crap. When you take a new dose of love into your heart, ‘I feel like eating a salad’ may spontaneously run through your mind…just sayin’…

!WARNING! Choosing love may cause you to quit your job.

Love, if you let it, will eventually course through every vein of your life. If you start out doing a job that is on a non-loving vibration, and you subsequently introduce a higher dose of love into your life, you may see, quite frankly, that you job is a waste of what you have to give. You may come to realize that your job does not support your wellness; you may see clearly that it doesn’t support the planet’s wellness. It may dawn on you that your work has fallen out of sync with your soul’s needs. If so, use love’s inspiration to guide you towards what to do to put it right. (This happened to me, I used to work for a credit card company).

!WARNING! Living a life of love may make you re-think your entire life.

Woah! This can be scary…when you begin to live with regular supplements of love, it may cause you to take stock of your whole life. Your life is not compartmentalized, everything has a knock-on-effect on everything else. Love causes you to treat people differently- that in itself can have a massive effect on the quality of experiences in your life. Love wants you to do things that support your wellbeing. Love encourages you towards happiness and peace. Love shoves you in the direction of joy….and the dominos continue to tumble.

!WARNING! Love will make you more self-interested.

To many, love means being selfless, but when you have love in your life, how can you be selfless? You are the facilitator of love by your thoughts, intentions, words and actions. In order to facilitate love, you need to have an understanding of love and to understand love, you need to feel loved…how can you possibly offer something that you have never felt? Not only is it perfectly acceptable for you to receive love, but it is absolutely necessary. Love has the weird side-effect of causing you to cultivate an understanding of love for others by loving yourself.

!WARNING! Love has been known to make people say sorry for their mistakes.

When you love, you don’t need to be right. When you love, you realize that there may be no such thing as ‘right’ because you become more compassionate and understanding of the coherent buoyancy of differing points of view. This may compel you to offer an apology – verbally or mentally but always sincerely – to someone, because through love, you see that contrast, contradiction and variety is fundemental to the overall progress of love. It is not about switching to another side- it is simply that there are no sides, just different expressions and various catalysts for love. Even the ‘bad’ stuff can be a catalyst for love. If you can accept that, then you’ve got the dosage just right.

These have been the seven effects of love that ought to come with a warning label. Can you think of any more?
